    Banglasatcom is also having its operation towards creating professional skill within the investigative journalists through providing special training and research support. It is a hiving its affiliated organization named ICS (Institute of Communication Studies) to work for the development of the Journalist in the field of their professionalism.

         

    Banglasatcom-ICS is an organization by and for journalists in association with scholars dedicated to the support, growth and nurturing of high media professionalism.  It is a catalyst for change in a number of ways. Its staff members are planning and conducting classes to increase skills. It is promoting and holding up the best practices and highest standards of the profession through publications, meetings, discussion and competitions. It is providing research, equipment and online services for journalists interested in perfecting their craft and to select journalists it will fund reporting projects that could not otherwise be completed. It is work towards better relations with political and governmental leaders and the media but it is also helping find legal resources and support for journalists who through work exposing the truth about how institutions are performing are threatened with retaliation. Thus, Banglasatcom-ICS is working towards improving investigative reporting in Bangladesh in these four major areas:

     

    1. Classes, training sessions and discussions at the Banglasatcom- ICS Center, in newsrooms and among newsmakers and journalists
    2. Original research by top scholars on social, political and economic issues and trends that will be made public widely and provide the basis for informed reportage.
    3. Encouragement of the highest standards of good reportage by, for example, a contest and publications that will display best practices and the highest grade work.
    4. Support for high-level investigative reporting in the form of equipment and technology loans, legal guidance, mentoring, and reporting grants.
